Our History & Mission
The creation of Isabel's House began as a Signature Project of the Junior League of Springfield. The League members' shared desire to address and prevent child abuse and neglect throughout the Ozarks came to fruition after two years of exhaustive research and careful planning.
Various families, foundations, area businesses, and other charity partnerships were involved in the opening and formation of Isabel's House, including: Springfield-Greene County Parks Board, Burrell Behavioral Health, the City of Springfield, Cox Health, Community Partnerships of the Ozarks, Missouri State University, Mercy, the United Way of the Ozarks, and the enduring investment made by the O'Reilly and Wooten Family Foundations.
Isabel's House: Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks opened its doors on June 25, 2007.
Since opening our doors and arms, we have lovingly cared for more than 5,000 children and served more than 2,000 families.
Isabel's House has, and continues to, succeed in our mission:
To prevent child abuse and neglect.
Isabel’s House Child Advocates provide 24/7/365 child care while Family Advocates work with parents and caregivers to create an individualized plan to address their crisis.

"We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say 'It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.' Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider these people my heroes." - Fred Rogers
